Frédéric Bazille was born in a wealthy family of Montpelier. His family gave financial support to some of the early impressionist artists in France. Bazille entered Gleyre’s art studio in 1862, and he always has gone with them to paint directly in the open air. There were some famous masterpiece painting created.
“ The Pink Dress “ , one of the most important and beautiful masterpiece paintings of Bazille, was painted during the summer of 1864.
The woman in the painting is his cousin, Therese des Hours, who is wearing a simple summer dress of pink and grey stripes and a black apron. She sat quietly on a stone ledge. The Bazille and Hours families spent summer there. Her back turned to the viewer and looks towards the village and the roofs covered in the orange colorized tiles so typical of the South of France.
I personally love this classic masterpiece painting, in which everything is so serene as if time stood still for a moment. It reminds me of the summertime in my hometown when I was a kid. With my younger sister running in the countryside field with a skirt, looking at the night starry sky, listening to the singing cricket, freely talking about interesting topics.
